π― ROLE OVERVIEW
As our new Global Menu Engineering Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in driving the quality and sourcing of our menu items. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Quality and Sourcing, you will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams to develop and implement new menu items, improve existing menu offerings, and optimize our food supply chain. Your impact will be seen across the globe, ensuring that every Wendy's customer enjoys a consistently high-quality dining experience.
π KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
. Develop and maintain comprehensive understanding of consumer trends, food industry regulations, and competitor activity to inform menu strategy and innovation.
. Collaborate with culinary teams to design and launch new menu items, ensuring alignment with brand positioning, customer preferences, and operational feasibility.
. Lead cost-benefit analysis and value engineering projects to optimize menu pricing, reduce costs, and enhance profitability.
. Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring compliance with quality, sustainability, and social responsibility standards.
. Identify and implement opportunities to improve food safety, quality, and efficiency throughout the supply chain.
. Develop and implement training programs for culinary staff, focusing on menu knowledge, preparation techniques, and customer service excellence.
. Analyze consumer feedback, menu performance metrics, and market research to inform business decisions and drive menu evolution.
. Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities for menu innovation and differentiation.
. Collaborate with marketing teams to develop compelling menu promotions, limited-time offers, and brand campaigns.
β REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
. Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Culinary Arts, Business Administration, or related field.
. Minimum 5 years of experience in food industry, with a focus on menu development, supply chain management, or quality assurance.
. Proven track record of driving menu innovation, reducing costs, and improving operational efficiency.
. Strong understanding of global food industry trends, regulations, and competitor activity.
. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
. Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
. Familiarity with food safety, quality, and sustainability standards (e.g., HACCP, SQF, BRC).
. Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredient interactions, and menu engineering principles.
. Ability to travel up to 20% of the time for meetings, training, and supplier visits.
β PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
. Master's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Culinary Arts, or related field.
. Experience with supply chain management software (e.g., ERP, WMS).
. Certification in food safety, quality, or sustainability (e.g., CFS, HACCP, SQF).
. Familiarity with marketing and branding principles.
. Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
