Remote Technical Operations Manager — Critical Infrastructure Support

🎯 ROLE OVERVIEW

As a Remote Technical Operations Manager — Critical Infrastructure Support, you will be responsible for leading a team of technical experts who support the design, deployment, and maintenance of our critical IT infrastructure. You will report directly to the Director of IT Operations and will be part of UPS's Technology organization. Your key objective will be to ensure that our infrastructure is secure, reliable, and scalable to meet the growing needs of our business.

📋 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead a team of technical experts in the design, deployment, and maintenance of our critical IT infrastructure.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Development, Quality Assurance, and Security to ensure that our infrastructure meets the required standards and guidelines.

• Develop and implement technical strategies to improve the efficiency and security of our infrastructure.

• Analyze and resolve infrastructure-related issues and incidents, providing timely and accurate communication to stakeholders.

• Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and industry standards to ensure that our infrastructure remains competitive and secure.

• Develop and manage budgets for infrastructure-related projects and initiatives.

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.

• Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors and partners to ensure that our infrastructure meets the required standards.

• Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of the team and the infrastructure.

• Identify and develop opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.

✅ REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 8+ years of experience in technical operations, infrastructure management, or a related field.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in managing teams and leading projects.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including cloud computing, virtualization, and containerization.

• Experience with IT service management frameworks (e.g. ITIL) and ITSM tools.

• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity and data protection principles.

• Experience with budgeting, resource allocation, and project management.

• Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.

• Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience with cloud management platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

• Experience with containerization (e.g. Docker) and orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes).

⭐ PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 10+ years of experience in technical operations, infrastructure management, or a related field.

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Experience with DevOps and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools.

• Experience with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) concepts and applications.

• Strong understanding of networking protocols and architectures.

• Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) tools.

• Strong knowledge of data analytics and business intelligence principles.

💰 WHAT WE OFFER

We offer a highly competitive salary range of $50,000 — $80,000 per year, depending on experience. Our comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan with a 4% company match. We also offer a generous paid time off policy, including 10 days of vacation and 10 holidays per year.
