šÆ ROLE OVERVIEW
As a Senior Data Protection Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of sensitive patient information. You will be responsible for developing and implementing data protection policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments and audits, and providing training and guidance to our teams on data protection best practices. You will report to the Head of Cybersecurity and will work closely with our technology, risk management and compliance teams to ensure that our data protection frameworks are aligned with industry standards and best practices.
š KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement data protection policies and procedures, including incident response plans, data breach notification procedures and data protection impact assessments.
Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential data protection risks, including vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
Provide training and guidance to our teams on data protection best practices, including data classification, access controls, encryption and data storage.
Collaborate with our technology team to ensure that our data protection solutions are aligned with industry standards and best practices.
Develop and maintain relationships with data protection authorities, including the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), to ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
Stay up-to-date with emerging data protection trends and technologies, including AI, machine learning and cloud computing.
ā REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 8 years of experience in data protection, cybersecurity or a related field.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent certification.
Proven experience in developing and implementing data protection policies and procedures, including incident response plans and data breach notification procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
ā PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
Certified Data Protection Officer (CDPO) or equivalent certification.
Proven experience in leading data protection teams or projects.
Strong background in AI, machine learning or cloud computing.
š° WHAT WE OFFER
We offer a competitive salary range of £55,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.

š„ ABOUT THE TEAM
Our cybersecurity team consists of 10 experienced professionals, including 3 senior security specialists and 2 junior security analysts. We work collaboratively to identify and mitigate potential security risks, including data breaches, malware and phishing attacks. We recently completed a successful project to implement a company-wide encryption solution, which has improved our data protection posture significantly.
